Beyond the Shoreline
Endurance After Addiction. How Far Would You Go?
Rising from the depths of addiction: Ultra swimmer Steve Leitch continues his journey to swim across the most dangerous and beautiful waters in the world.
To serve others through completing the Oceans 7 Swim Challenge.
Every crossing helps build awareness, support, and momentum for Rising Tides Mentorship Ministry — a mission dedicated to helping men and women rebuild their lives after addiction.
Director's Statement
When Steve first told me his story and his mission to use the Oceans 7 swims to serve others, I knew this wasn't just another endurance documentary. It was something deeper. Something earned.
I've followed Steve across the English Channel and into the brutal uncertainty of the North Channel. Watched him carve a restless path across Cook Strait and find renewed determination in the ancient waters of Japan's Tsugaru Strait. Each swim refines the process. There's no performance left out there. No mask. Just truth.
"This is not a story of redemption so much as a story of becoming. Becoming a man shaped by addiction, rebuilt through faith, family, and a relentless commitment to serve others."
Sometimes, the real distance isn't measured in miles. It's measured in who you become along the way.
The Journey So Far
Beyond the Shoreline: The Channel of Bones was entirely self-funded and documents Steve's 2023 crossing of the Ka'iwi Molokai Channel — 28 miles in 12 hours and 56 minutes.
The film was released in April 2024 and is currently available on multiple streaming platforms, including Tubi and Amazon Prime.
Where We Are Going
In 2026, the journey reaches its final chapter.
This global journey is being captured as a ten-part docu-series for audiences drawn to extreme endurance, powerful human stories, ocean adventure, and faith-driven transformation.

More Than a Swim
This is not a story about swimming. It is a story about redemption. Steve is using the hardest swims on earth to fuel a mission far greater than himself.
What addiction tried to destroy, God rebuilt with purpose. Now every channel becomes a platform to bring hope, raise support, and build Rising Tides Mentorship Ministry for those fighting their way back.
This series is not about applause. It is about impact. Not about fame. About freedom.
